Scientific background: Follicle-stimulating hormone is essential for normal reproductive function in males and females. FSHR gene encodes a 695-amino acid predicted protein. Amino acid sequence similarity is high in comparison with the previously described rat gene, ranging from 82% in exon 9 to 100% in exon 3. Human FSH receptor is mapped to chromosome 2p21.

Additional info: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminal of human FSHR, different from the related rat and mouse sequences by three amino acids.
